monica camilao is an artist working in the bay area who just opened her first solo show at cinders in brooklyn, 'we are dust'. she makes these artworks with refuse- old fabric bits and other discarded things are combined to create these haunting but sweet combines (my word). they make me feel sentimental for many reasons, not in the least thinking about the giant dreamcatcher liz bates and i made for the william and mary campus. liz bates, i love you!!!
